Dear staff,

My SMF forum still displays a blank page after changing to Intermediate PHP plan. I have got the gist that Intermediate plan should work for most forum software so I didn't apply for the Advanced plan right away. I'm wondering if there's anyone who can help me with the problem?

I'm using the Alak skin (I think that's the name) and barely installed mods so I don't think I've broken any default stuff.

Address: http://pssforum.uni.cc or http://jalenoes.exofire.net/smf

Update: Gah....nevermind. It suddenly worked now after me trying in vain for about 10 minutes.

Update 2: I still get blank pages occasionally. Happens in maybe 1 out of 5 tries.

Hello alenoes, blank pages in SMF are mostly caused by wrong permission rights to the folders/files. Please double check that every single folders' permission is set to 755 and files to 644 using FTP (File Transfer Protocol).

If you just applied for the Php Version 2 change, you should wait 3 hours in order for the server Php Version update to take affect.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice, but all my files are at the proper permission settings. And I also had waited for about 8 hours since my PHP update request. The thing is, sometimes it reaches a blank page but after a few Refresh page tries it shows the correct one.

I don't have a clue how to fix it.

Hmm, what example do you mean Corey?

To describe my situation:

I try to access the forum through http://pssforum.uni.cc (I also tried http://jalenoes.exofire.net/smf) and I get a blank page. Then I hit F5 (refresh page) until I get the page to show up properly. Sometimes the page manages to load after about 2 tries, other times more than 8 tries. I did try a hard refresh (Ctrl+F5) but no satisfactory results either.

I checked my files through FTP and the folders are at 755 and various files are either at 777, 666, or 644.

This problem only cropped up after the changes to PHP configurations, worked fine before that.

I'm looking into this
Edit:
Jalenoes, I believe I have found the cause of this problem. I need to find a way to easily fix the issue though, for other users.

I'm sending you a PM now, please respond.
