Im getting "HTTP Error 500 Internal server error" page on every page on my site. Not sure if it will help but I copy n paste the page at the bottom of this post.

I've checked the error logs in cPanel and there is nothing there giving an indication there is a problem my end, as it were.

I've checked the chopin update thread and can't see why I should still be having troubles. I'm happy to provide additional details as required, i'm not sure what is needed at the moment.

Site is on Chopin
Username: oddity

site is ollie.co.cc

Many thanks, error page follows.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HTTP Error 500 Internal server error

Introduction

The Web server (running the Web Site) encountered an unexpected condition that prevented it from fulfilling the request by the client (e.g. your Web browser or our CheckUpDown robot) for access to the requested URL.

This is a 'catch-all' error generated by the Web server. Basically something has gone wrong, but the server can not be more specific about the error condition in its response to the client. In addition to the 500 error notified back to the client, the Web server should generate some kind of internal error log which gives more details of what went wrong. It is up to the operators of the Web server site to locate and analyse these logs.

500 errors in the HTTP cycle

Any client (e.g. your Web browser or our CheckUpDown robot) goes through the following cycle when it communicates with the Web server:

* Obtain an IP address from the IP name of the site (the site URL without the leading 'http://'). This lookup (conversion of IP name to IP address) is provided by domain name servers (DNSs).
* Open an IP socket connection to that IP address.
* Write an HTTP data stream through that socket.
* Receive an HTTP data stream back from the Web server in response. This data stream contains status codes whose values are determined by the HTTP protocol. Parse this data stream for status codes and other useful information.

This error occurs in the final step above when the client receives an HTTP status code that it recognises as '500'.

Fixing 500 errors - general

This error can only be resolved by fixes to the Web server software. It is not a client-side problem. It is up to the operators of the Web server site to locate and analyse the logs which should give further information about the error.

Fixing 500 errors - CheckUpDown

Please contact us (email preferred) whenever you encounter 500 errors on your CheckUpDown account. We then have to liaise with your ISP and the vendor of the Web server software so they can trace the exact reason for the error. Correcting the error may require recoding program logic for the Web server software, which could take some time.

Can anyone help me? Site has been down for about a week now. I've checked permissions of files in cpanel and the error logs to no avail.

Please say if I need to provide further information.

Many thanks.

OK, I've checked the permissions. My public_html directory and its contents is set to 755, although www is set to 777, I've tried to change it to 755 via my FTP client however the settings wont take, I understand www is just a link to public_html anyway?

I can't get in to cPanel at the moment so I'll try in there to reset the permissions once it is back up again if that seems like it would help.

Thanks for your reply

Got in to cPanel, all my permissions are as they should be at 755

I have several directories such as ollie.co.cc/assets which just contain files and such which I cannot access via http, site still does not function, all pages report the same 500 error message as I quoted in the first post.

Please can someone look in to this for me, as ever I'll do what I can to provide details as required.

Yours hopefully

Olson

Hi,

"ollie.co.cc" does not seem to be pointing to our servers. The 500 error page you are seeing is not from our servers either, ours looks different :)

Thanks for the reply Corey.

M DNS for the domain I bought are pointing at ns1.x10hosting.com and ns2.x10hosting.com.

I had no issues before x10hosting went though these changes and I haven't changed anything on my site in such a major way to think I've done anything silly.

Please help man, I'm not stupid or anything, something is wrong, my site has been down for 10 days now.

I suggest you listen to Corey.

I suggest you go back to co.cc and reset your nameservers.

When I try to tracert or ping ollie.co.cc from my laptop or from a web based service, it shows that the IP for that domain is 114.207.244.145 ....which is in Korea, not Chicago.

Your problem at the moment is with co.cc, not x10hosting.

Kindly confirm ns1.x10hosting.com and ns2.x10hosting.com are the correct name servers for my domain

Those are the nameservers for free x10hosting accounts.

Thanks, yes sorry I could not get back to you earlier, I appreciate your response.

I dont know what to make of this really, my domain at co.cc is set up as follows:

cocc.png

I wanted to make sure enough time had elapsed after resetting the name servers and making sure, as far as I could that thing were as they should be.

I haven't touched any of the settings there since creating the account last year anyway.

I did shoot an email off to co.cc however haven't heard back from them yet. The help I received from here seems to point to the fact there is a problem their end. Considering I can use cPanel and access my files via FTP (username@chopin.x10hosting.com) it's looking more likely that something is indeed up that, otherwise I'm stumped.

This seems to me like a rather bizarre issue.

Thanks again for the help

---------- Post added at 12:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:01 AM ----------

Sorry for double post, I have just heard back from co.cc who say:

Upon investigation, your IP seems to be related with phishing site.
Since you have registered co.cc domain with the IP, your domain has been suspended by us.

I am sorry, but I am afraid that we cannot help but do this because we should protect our service from some bad situation.
However if you elucidate something about your contents or domain, we can consider releasing your domain.

Thank you.

Which is absolutely ridiculous, disturbing and rather a concern.

Just FYI all I host on my site as a wordpress blog and pictures of my 3d modelling with blender which I am learning at the moment and also embedded links to my beginner animations on vimeo ( http://vimeo.com/user3953800/videos ).

Many thanks for the support, you were absolutely right that x10hosting is not at fault and I will attempt to liaise with co.cc to get this resolved.

A lot of users have been having issues with them, I would suggest getting a top level domain if at all possible.
