since i get no responses on my question in my previous support request i have no option then to start a new one
since the starka server move my site is gone, i have waited till i noticed the "calling all starka...." topic and was kind of expecting to see my site back after that.
When logging in to cPanel, all my files are present, my SQL database is present, my log in works like it should. I can clearly see the index.php

still when i browse to http://wu-central.x10.mx/index.php i get a 404
when i do not use index.php (http://wu-central.x10.mx ) i get redirected to http://wu-central.x10.mx/cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi

again, logging in to cPanel or logging in with ftp, all files are where they should be.
My community members are waiting to get to the new site since the old host i had is no longer in business so it is kind of important for me to have the site up and running

sorry for adding a new support question but like said, i get no responses anymore o my previous one

When you change your main domain, or add on a domain, or park a domain, the basic process is the same.

cPanel is updated. Nameservers are updated. Server internal map is updated.

It is the third step that is having a problem, for adding domains or changing main domains.

When you installed SMF, you told it that your site's URL was wucouncil.x10.mx , so all css and image files are requested from that domain -- which does not exist. Hence, they do not show up.

You have to go into SMF admin area and change that setting to your current domain URL.

In addition to what Descalzo said, using the admin area is tedious and sometimes unworkable because SMF will put http://oldurl.com/ in front of every link. So when you apply an action in the admin area, the target of the link is invalid, so the action never processes. You have to access repair_settings.php in the new location to fix this.

I thank you for your advices and patience with me, i have decided to startfrom scratch and use my database backup for the sql "repair" which seems to have had about the effect i wanted to achieve (some records lost but alas)

i will make sure to reserve a spot for some "host promotion" :)
