Well we all would like to have a domain. (I think)
The thing is, sub-domains are usualy free. Wich can be important for small sites.
So I usualy get a sub-domain and get a .co.nr domain.

Rather have a domain but i can't afford a domain.
Domains are good but i like the X10 subdomains because i can configure it near enough like my own domain.

They're not bad, but as everybody uses them, they look reeeaaaally cheap. And it doesn't cost much for a real domain does it?

Sure would be nice to have a domain, but they're not free. Sure, they're cheap, but who really wants to spend money when they don't really have to. Subdomains are free, so I like them for its free-cost. Plus, domain isn't necessary for my small site. And I don't care that it doesn't 'look good' because it's not a top level domain. Subdomains beats .tk or .co.nr which I don't like/want to use.

A Domain looks more professional, you have control over it, are becoming cheaper and cheaper all the time, and you can use ads such as google etc. without having to provide proof that you have recieved permission from the domain name owner.

So yah, I prefer a domain.

Domain offcourse, they have a lot of advantage/s.
A policy domain provides you with a logical way of managing backup and archive policies for a group of client nodes with common backup-archive policy needs. You can also define policy domains to limit the number of client nodes that can be managed by a single policy administrator. A policy domain contains one or more policy sets, with only one policy set active at a time.

and yes, it looks more professional @Synkc

I agree with Synkc also, domains are much more professional looking. Even if you don't want to actually buy a real domain, you can still use co.nr or uni.cc (these look like domains, because some countries sell only third-level and up)

I would much rather use a domain than a subdomain. I mean, it's shorter, which means it's easier to type and easier to remember. Anyways, domains are pretty cheap nowadays. Combine a $10.00 per year GoDaddy domain with a lifetime price of $0.00 for X10, and that's a pretty good deal.

I do believe I am the only one that would rather have a subdomain. xD
Even if I have to pay x10 eventually for more bandwidth, I would STILL rather have a subdomain.

Why?
Because as soon as you register a domain, ANYONE can track you. You have to provide all sorts of various details, and using a domain lookup, anyone can find:
Your address.
Your phone number.
Your email.
Your Zip Code.
Your full name...

Etc. Etc. Etc.

It's like a stalker-invitation.
Of course, you could just call me paranoid. =P

If I had to get a domain eventually though, I wouldn't mind changing my site name from http://nopi.exofire.net/ to http://www.NothingOfParticularInterest.Net/
The latter one just seems to have so much more ring to it. xD

I would prefer a domain over a subdomain any day.
They are only what, $10/year at most?
Like Synkc said, they do make your website look a lot more professional and you will probably get more visitors. Honestly, I don't like visiting websites with subdomains because there are way too many websites with them that the majority of the websites won't make it on the web. I don't know one very popular website with a subdomain, but I'm sure there are some.

Domains all the way. They're easy to remember (which is why companies wouldn't be caught dead without one), look professional, are short and catchy, and best of all, they can result in hillarious confusions! (I'm talking URLs like the one for Pen Island, a fake site for the sale of pens, which is at penisland.net - and no, I'm not joking - even check Wikipedia if you like)

Domain is definitely better but i use sub-domain as it is free. Then just get a co.nr domain, easy to use and free.
