When someone goes to the support board to open a new ticket, most times you'll find that there are a few common reasons…

1) "I uploaded a script I didn't know was nulled/did know was nulled but only wanted to try it. Please un-suspend me."

These people have recently started arguing a lot about how stupid it is that we have rules (uh, why would we have those?!) and asking dozens of times to have their account un-suspended because "I really will be good now, I was just testing to make sure the script worked/didn't know it was nulled! What's nulled?!"

2) "I have a system resources suspension! I don't know why! What does that mean!" (This was my first ticket, too!)

It's usually just a matter of pointing them to the account panel to un-suspend themselves and telling them to look for Wordpress plugins or other scripts that use a lot of resources. Pretty cut-and-dried stuff.

3) "I have an unsupported language. What does this mean? Are you racist?" (OK, I may have made up the last part...)

Again, we just have to explain the rule to them and then telling them it sucks to be them because they're permabanned.

4) Something server-related

Nuff said.

So here's my idea.

When someone tries to open a new ticket, why not present them with a screen saying "Hey, here's the top four problems people have. See if this fixes your problem (because it's faster than waiting for the forum users to answer.)"

Then explain in great detail each of the three problems above, then say "Or it could be a server-related issue. Here are all currently-known server problems:

Chopin: None
Coassacks: Everything is broken from the Y2K bug. We've been working on it for almost 10 years now, but we're almost done! Promise!
Lotus: Mail is down

etc.

If someone's problem isn't there, then they can open a new ticket. If their problem is solved, have a "This is my problem" button under each topic (for statistics purposes if nothing else). Also, to save page space, maybe the page should only have the questions and the "This is my problem" button should take them to the lengthy answer to their problem. The page would be smaller then.

Just my two cent. Spend it how you will.

This has been brought up in other places. I believe the "related posts" function of topic creation will be brought back soon.

Just wait and see.

Thanks for the feedback. We're currently holding off on making any more modifications until we upgrade to vB 4.0, just waiting on some modifications we use and to get our skin working with it.

Those are some good ideas though.
