Hi, I was on a shared server on a subdomain when the domain was blacklisted. So I found this wonderful site and create a new domain. Then I took a new domain I had and had transferred over here. Now I have hosted a new main domain without any sub domains. My question is have I avoided this problem now by doing the steps above. I know you can't control what other people do when your sharing the same domain but now I have just my own domain with no one on the sub domain. I know it's a stupid question and I'm 99% sure that I will not be affected by anyone else since this is my own domain that I purchased that was recently transferred here. But you can never tell. Anyways this free web hosting is a blast! What's the catch? There's always a catch.

No catch. If you follow the rules, you'll be very happy here on X10. Corey (the owner) is extremely proactive on making the free servers run as best as they can and by and large is extremely successful.

if you mean spam blacklist, using your own domain wont keep it out of blacklists, as most blacklists runs by the server IP, not the domain.

It is quite hard to keep a free host out of these blacklists, as even tho we suspend the spammers when we detect them, the mails has already been sent. Some blacklists even count newsletters as spam.

We are trying to remove us from the blacklists whenever we can, but it's no use, as they could add us again in some month if another spammer signs up, and some blacklists even take payment for removals.

If I use Google Apps, does that get around the blacklist issue you're talking about? Like if a certain provider has Chopin blocked, my Google Apps email will still go through because it's coming from Google, right? Just wondered about that...

I'm 99% certain that having mail hosted on Google Apps means that the blacklisted status of your actual domain is not taken into account when an email is blocked, only the reverse DNS which points to Google.

Well, 99% is good enough for me. :D Thanks.
