After getting the first suspension notice, I have been logging into the forums every day. I realize that goes beyond the once per 2 weeks rule. Why was my account suspended yet again when I access the forums every day practically?

Is there a specific thread I need to open, or do I need to post on the forums?

No, post it's optional.
But you should read any thread logged in for 1-3 mins at least to make sure that you are picked up by the system.
