Hello everyone,

For two weeks now, my scripts (Perl and PHP) are being blocked, apparently
because they are in my cgi-bin directory. I just thought that it was the right place
for them when using POST and GET methods.

So my question is this : can such scripts be in another directory and still
execute correctly ? What is special about the cgi-bin directory ?

Thanks for any advice you can provide.

P.S. : Why no mention of that issue in Service Alerts or News and Announcements ? I understand that X10-Free Hosting is suffering
heavy abuse from hackers (I had a good laugh at "My little brother
uploaded a proxy"), but must all bonafide users suffer from that ?

Hello,

It dosn't really matter because of how the permissions are setup, pearl/python won't run at all right now due to the abuse (disabled), and you can move the PHP to any directory it will load fine.

So, why didn't X10 administrators simply block pearl(sic)/python execution,
instead of blocking cgi-bin directory access ? Now I have to move most
of my pages/scripts and edit them to reflect the changes.

What is so special about PERL that warrants its banning, compared to PHP ?

And again, why no word about that issue in Service Alerts or News and
Announcements ? I realize that this is free hosting, and we are not entitled
to any claims, but still...
