I am no religious man at all, but you guys should really read up on religion.
First off, the 10 commandments are Jewish laws. They are not invented, nor do they exist to oppress anyone. I don't think a law that prohibits killing another person could be called a law to oppress people. The story about Moses going up the hill and coming down again with these laws is simply a way for people to make it more real, and to make these laws legitimate. (i.e. God told Moses that his people should follow these)
Secondly, the stories have been formed throughout the ages. The New Testament in its current form was completed somewhere in the 10th century AD. It has been edited over and over again, and not even all texts made the final edition. It's kind of like ... taking a 3D picture, and redrawing it in 2D. If you consider the Bible as being a book that suddenly existed, you're missing perspective.
Thirdly, I think the poll is a bit ... well, obsolete. Ofcourse the Bible is a man-made instrument. The only thing you could truly debate on, is whether the writings are true or not. And that is also a question without any point at all. Because if you think the stories are true as they are written down, you're missing the point. You're missing the story behind the story. And that's what really matters.
And that's also what I would like to say to EvoEx: not ALL religious people are like that, only the stupid ones. Sadly, they seem to form the majority in certain countries.
