This always seems to make a good, heated topic for debate, so let's hear what everyone has to say on it.

Word of man obviously, it doesnt make sense to believe something that's written just
because it's old.

The Bible was most likely at least in part divinely inspired, particularly the gospels. I'm pretty much certain that the letters of Paul were the word of man, and I'm uncertain about Revelation (it was thought to be of questionable credibility even by the people who put together the Bible). I think the Old Testament is primarily history and if you read between the lines, you'll find many great military strategies. Honestly, there is a massive difference when you read the words of Jesus and compare them to what Paul wrote. Jesus promoted tolerance, forgiveness, equality, and freedom. Paul came up with most of what is used by the evangelicals to promote their hateful agenda.

If Jesus didn't actually exist, wouldn't the Romans have known and mentioned that the Bible had been invented? Besides, wouldn't the leadership have denounced Christianity and kept their lives (as the Romans offered them a chance to do) if they were uncertain about whether it was true, at least in part?

Word of man. God didn't write this, man did. Theres no prove that there even is a "god".

Well a mix of both, I know in juadaism we belive that god told moses what to write, but the 10 commandments god wrote himself the first time, and moses did the second time after he went back up when the jews did the golden calf in the desert.

Word of man. Which is why there are plenty of inaccuracies and misinterpretations IMO.

It's sad we live in a world where people still follow every single fundamental word of it. Need to think outside the box in this day and age.. for the next century the world is going to be all based upon science, and the United States is losing the race

The Gospels were written a century after Jesus' Death for the New Testament, as for the old, its even more visible that the Judaism has its roots in Pagan ideology.

well technically..it was written by God, but really it was written by Man because God sent revelation to prophets and they wrote it down :)

Persons who devote their entire lives to religion tend to be close-minded. They follow the words of the Bible, like they have no mind of their own.

personally, i have to say i think it's the word of man. and in case i'm wrong and it is the word of god, it is most assuredly a god i would want nothing to do with anyway. i also agree with george carlin about the 10 commandments being an artificially inflated list to control simple minded people.

word of man. the gospels were written sixty years AFTER "Jesus" died...To me the whole idea of God and the Bible is a pack of lies used to gain power and control over the people.

I believe its word of man as the book was written 60years after as rufio1 said and that i reckon it was a scam to allow the churchs to become very rich and also they can gain alot of power over the thought of thinking someone is watching over you and that you have to be a good person. And if people are scared about this then people can gain alot of control over people.

The Bible is originally from God, but the Christians changed probably most or all of it. So I don't know whether to choose word of God, or word of man. If you are talking about the edited Bible today, I'll choose word of man.

i believe that the most true version of the bible is the King James Version, all the other versions take out truth in some way or another, even if it's just simplifying words, it is still some way or another not the full truth, and the King James Version isn't the full truth, but the closest to it, things have been taken out of there

I am no religious man at all, but you guys should really read up on religion.

First off, the 10 commandments are Jewish laws. They are not invented, nor do they exist to oppress anyone. I don't think a law that prohibits killing another person could be called a law to oppress people. The story about Moses going up the hill and coming down again with these laws is simply a way for people to make it more real, and to make these laws legitimate. (i.e. God told Moses that his people should follow these)

Secondly, the stories have been formed throughout the ages. The New Testament in its current form was completed somewhere in the 10th century AD. It has been edited over and over again, and not even all texts made the final edition. It's kind of like ... taking a 3D picture, and redrawing it in 2D. If you consider the Bible as being a book that suddenly existed, you're missing perspective.

Thirdly, I think the poll is a bit ... well, obsolete. Ofcourse the Bible is a man-made instrument. The only thing you could truly debate on, is whether the writings are true or not. And that is also a question without any point at all. Because if you think the stories are true as they are written down, you're missing the point. You're missing the story behind the story. And that's what really matters.
And that's also what I would like to say to EvoEx: not ALL religious people are like that, only the stupid ones. Sadly, they seem to form the majority in certain countries.
