I used a theme which uses timtumb.php for image resizing. But it is not working. I asked the theme site and they said that I need to contact the hosting provider to enable mod rewriting settings. i am not much of a technical guy. So can you help me with this?

Apache mod_rewrite is enabled and working on all servers. You may be missing a file named .htaccess in the directory to which you installed this software. This file could also be incorrect. Check to make sure the file is correct:

Code:
RewriteEngine on #this line is necessary. if it's missing, add it before any RewriteRule or RewriteCond

#Any lines that start with #Rewrite should probably not be commented
#RewriteRule (.*) /index.php?$1 #Make sure there are no lines with the hash (#) symbol in front of them except for comments.

There may be more instructions inside the .htaccess file.
