to enable php exec()

i am creating a multiuser game platform using php and i would need to use exec() function and be able to open a socket at port 9999. can i know if this is possible, how much do i need to pay, or if i should switch hosting provider. thanks.

exec() function is disabled for security reasons on all free servers. It can`t be enable for a single account.

As for how much you need to pay, it would be $3.95/month to switch to x10Premium hosting that - correct me if I'm wrong - does support these features.

For the user to do what it sounds like he wants to (a game server) he'd need a VPS. Paid hosting forbids constantly-running scripts like game servers and a "multiuser game platform in php" with a socket opened on 9999 sure sounds like a server to me...
