Too many connections Errors

Recently I have been getting a lot of 'Too many connections' errors on my site. What is going on exactly?

I assume it occurs when there are a lot of requests coming in which results in the connection part of the script exceeding the connection limit.
Can you check the bandwidth log to see if someone was attacking your site?

My bandwidth log shows nothing. 0 bytes of bandwidth used.

0 Bytes? If you've visited it then it should put something in, maybe it hasn't updated yet?
The MySQL server could be bugged up like for some other users (slowness), I saw that the MySQL server has to be restarted so it looks like an other wait for someone from the staff department.

I assume that takes time to update. We'll wait and see.

The last time it was updated was in May. Or so it says in the bandwidth logs.

Unfortunately, this is one of those situations where there are multiple possibilities of what is causing such issue.
