Transferring a domain name without using the account panel

Hi everybody,
I just bought a new domain, and I'd like to set it as my main domain, rather than my .x10hosting.com domain. I've looked through the forums (there was even a thread in this section, in fact) and tried to do what it said by setting the nameservers for my domain, but that didn't seem to work. I also tried going to the domain name manager page and doing the second option for transferring, but that didn't seem to work either; it just kept trying to get me to buy a new domain no matter what option I picked. I know it's possible to set the main domain name in the account panel, but since that's currently offline, I was just wondering if anyone else knows of another way. If there isn't one, I'm fine with waiting for the account panel; I'm just curious for future reference.
Thanks,
Lydia

Go to cpanel and add your domain in parked domains... It will work similar

But If you want this as your main domain. Then you have to wait

Thanks for the info, that means I have to wait. No problemo. Just so I know, what exactly is the difference between using a parked domain and changing the main domain name? If I just used a parked domain, would that mean I could get to my site from two distinct web addresses?
Thanks,
