I managed to get all the way through to the last page that says "congratulations the installaion process is complete"

I checked the box and clicked the link, but rather than going into the forum . I got an error message, which stupidly I did not print off.

When I try to use the forum name it does not go into my smf forum, just the main x10 home page.

At what point do I start to reinstall SMF?
Can I use the same forum name?
mysql unsername?
mysql database name?

Delete the file index.html.
Upgrade your php version to intermediate at http://x10hosting.com/account
In phpmyadmin delete any smf tables.
And then you should be able to reinstall SMF.

Thanks for this, but I'm very new to this so will ask some basic queastions.

Found index.html in my file manager as below. This is the one I delete?

re phpmy admin I found thsi as per following photo

In the left hand column of the above photo is a "jrl_jrl123(41) which wehn I click on it shows SMF files. (As per photo below) are these what you want me to delete? How do I do that?

As for upgrading php I looked into that and I have to give a good reason to do so. I'll try your other fixes first.

Thanks for your help

For the php upgrade, upgrades to intermediate are automatic. So just say you need it for SMF.

For phmyadmin, there is a check all link. Click that and in the drop down box select "drop"

Ok did everything and managed to get to the lastpage and failed again!

This is the error message

Warning: ingnore_user_abort() has been disabled for security reasons in /home/jrl/public_html/Sources/Load.php on line 336

Is this because I did not ask for the upgrade to intermediate on php? (I have now done this.)

I've now got my emails saying my account has been upgraded for php. I'll retry loading SMF this evening.

Forum set up. But it does not seem to work very well in that when I type in the name it does not always display the home page, but just a blank screen at the bottom it says "done".

In my cpanel error log I am getting this message over and over again

[Mon Oct 27 18:25:17 2008] [error] [client 195.93.21.103] ALERT - function within blacklist called: shell_exec() (attacker '195.93.21.103', file '/home/jrl/public_html/Sources/Subs.php', line 3481)

My skills are virtually zero and the error log messages are never going to mean anything to me!!
