Hello,
I'm trying to ftp my files using filezilla but it fails due to "connection closed by server" (actually, the files did transfer, but only half the size!)
now when i downloaded the "ftp configuration" and ran it, it successfully entered the info in the regstry, but the last step was not sucessful (Step 7: Open Filezilla and go to File > Site Manager. You should see your cPanel FTP listed. Click on it and connect using your password.) so i entered the information manually, i wonder if that has anything to do with why my ftp isn't working. Below is a copy of the ftp exchange...any tips would be greatly appreciated it! also, should i be ftping my files to public_html or www??? since they appear in both places... thanks... selcane

Error: Connection closed by server
Edit:
Hello,
I'm trying to ftp my files using filezilla but it fails due to "connection closed by server" (actually, the files did transfer, but only half the size!)...

i fixed my problem by downloading another ftp tool called core ftp le

filezilla was wierd, it was complaining files already existed when they didnt and transfereing the files partially and giving the connection closed by server error....

core ftp le is great!
Edit:
problem fixed wth core ftp le

I use Filezilla and when I get the message connection closed, I can still access files and list directories whithout logging in again. It wakes up.

In some critical instances it closes the connection. What I am trying to say is that my connection is not always closed even though it sais so...

*Just a note*

i'm new to php, i'm working on my first ever website, and i dont know if i'm still thinking along the ftp lines since that is all that i have done, but maybe putting more debug code like the following would help?
if ($_FILES["upfile"]["error"] > 0)
{
echo "Error code is : " . $_FILES["upfile"]["error"] . "<br />";

}
else
{
echo "Upload: " . $_FILES["upfile"]["name"] . "<br />";
echo "Error code is : " . $_FILES["upfile"]["error"] . "<br />";
echo "Type: " . $_FILES["upfile"]["type"] . "<br />";
echo "Size: " . ($_FILES["upfile"]["size"] / 1024) . " Kb<br />";
echo "Stored in: " . $_FILES["upfile"]["tmp_name"];
}

anyway, what exactly are you imputing into that table? just the file name right? or are you inputing the actual file?

sorry if i'm wasting your time, as i am new to all of this!

Thanks for your answers. =)

Check my thread for updates... I'd like to keep it all in one place just in case I get another opinion.
