Two Suggestions.

I think x10 are the best host I have seen. But, there are two problems:

1. Please can we have support for .htaccess files? If we could create custom error pages, then our sites would be more search engine-friendly.

2. The cPanel bandwidth monitor doesn't work. Please could someone look at it and fix it?

1. x10 does support .htaccess files. If you want a custom 404 *TIP!*, just make a file named 404.shtml and design it on whatever way you like.. I tried it and it worked ;)

2. I dunno about that one mate..

Please let me tell you that x10Hosting prohibits custom userpages for free users.

You're not supposed to use custom 404's on x10.

What about custom error pages for stuff like "MySQL appears to be down, please try again later"?

Curious if I gotta fix that; that's not a standard error page so I think I'm fine, just wanna double check.

There goes any possibility of a blog that navigated by 404s (Wikipedia is a great example)!

You aren't allowed to have custom 404 pages here...

Btw mr kennedy, I thought you know that already, I have seen you posted about that in some various places over the forum now...

Since mrkennedy is a paid member, custom 404 pages are allowed for paying members.

Dusn't answer my question to be honest; it's not a 404 page missing error I'm worried about. My site loads a different page if it can't reach the mysql server, rather than having the entire page be a banner and a horizontal bar in the lefthand tabkle column.

Is it ok to have my index.php (which loads everything) load a separate page if it's unable to log into mysql, especially if it still displays the ad code on that "sorry, mysql is down" page?

Guess my confusion is it's not a 404 or 403, or any error like that; it's an error that doesn't normally display an error page that x10 COULD put ads on.
