Hi All,

Since we've started doing free hosting we've always used cPanel... we've had many issues with it throughout the years. While it's a great control panel for the end user it is not designed to host the amount of accounts we put on a server. When we start to hit these limits the side affects are normally downtime and\or extreme lag. Most people think that downtime is caused by the servers being overloaded or abusive users, while sometimes this is the case, the majority of the time it is due to the software being unable to cope with all the accounts.

We have tried many, many different setups and configurations over the past year to try and overcome these limits. We have separate servers to handle our email, mysql, and even backend account processing tasks to try and take as much load off of the web servers as possible. Even after offloading everything we could think of we are still being faced with limitations of the software we are using (cPanel & Apache).

For the past few weeks we have been thoroughly testing a new solution that involves directly modifying how cPanel and Apache work. Pieces of the overall solution has been installed this past week on live servers. I'm happy to announce that the testing has been very successful with only a few small bugs to knock out. We are currently setting up a new free hosting server that will go live this evening with all of our new changes ready to go. If everything checks out okay we will be moving some accounts over to it.

The stability on the servers has greatly improved over the past week with our testing, save for some downtime while we make changes for testing. Stability will continue to improve over the next week as we work out these last few bugs and get all the servers up to date with the new changes. Assuming everything goes well we will be moving accounts to bigger better servers. Since we will no longer be limited by our software we'll be able to use more powerful hardware which will not only make management easier on us it will increase the speed and stability of your sites.

Everything else, including our new site and account panel is currently on hold until this is completed. Stability and this new solution is and has been our #1 priority for the past month. Because the software was just not meant to be used this way it has required a lot of custom coding on our part to make it work, and a lot of testing. There are no pre made solutions out there for what we're doing, it has been built from the ground up by us. We just need a little bit more of your patience while we get things implemented and ironed out.

Wish us luck with our first modified server this evening and keep a watch out for updates.
