Hello Dead-i,

I am using cPanel V3 and there is no checkbox to show hidden files.
So I do not find the .htaccess file to enter the suggested line in the article to disable Varnish.
As for creating the .htaccess file if I do not have it, do I simply use the New File icon at top left?
I'm not a programmer, just a user.

Thank you !

Hi Mimi,

Yes, you can use the "New File" icon to create it, since it looks like you don't have .htaccess file already. Once you have made your .htaccess file, you can then select it, and choose the "Code Edit" button at the top. Once you have pasted the line inside, just click "Save changes". ;)

Thank you,

And what should I call this file "?.htaccess" ?
It will be right in the public_html folder ?

Thank you !

So, if I read right, the filename is nothing before the extension .htaccess.
Sorry for being so worried but I've never seen a file name with just the extension.
I would have named it unvarnish.htaccess or something ....

By the way, the page concerned by this subject is named Page2b.
Yesterday, I uploaded Page3 and it worked all right.

Thank you !

Sorry for being so worried but I've never seen a file name with just the extension.
the file [ .htaccess ] is a "dotfile" - and has no extension

from Google...
In Unix/Linux dot-files refers to files/directories with a "." prepended to their name. Examples are ~/.bashrc ~/.bash_profile etc. The leading dot (.) is used as an indicator by software like bash and nautilus to not list these files normally but only when they are specifically requested like pressing Ctrl+H in Nautilus. This is because, generally, dot-files are used to store configurations for different applications but they are sometimes used otherwise as well. For example Mozilla creates a .mozilla folder which contains their configuration files as well as browser cache.

Hello bdistler !

Thank you for teaching me what a dot file is. More knowledge for me.
OK then I will just put a . and the extension to the name of the file I will create as suggested.

Thanks again!

Hello again.

I created the .htaccess file in public_html folder and the primary problem still exists.
Unfortunately, this did not serve the purpose of solving my problem.
Here is the link to my site: http://creationsmimi.x10.mx/Creations_Mimi/Home/home.html.
Click on the Lettre IM button and then on that page, click on the Suivant button at the bottom right. It will bring you to page 2 which is the old page that I updated. The En Construction red image is not on the updated page; I even erased it from the folder Page 2 in Creations Mimi.

What if I delete all files in the folder via cPanel and upload all the new ones again? Do you think this would work to get my new page 2?

Thank you !

Mimi

Hello ! :(
Since you did not answer my yesterday 9:47PM message, I deleted the folder in which were all my files for Page 2 and created another folder named Page2b in which I put all the necessary files to go with the .html one (included).

Guess what ? I'm still getting the old page 2. What the heck is this ?

I can understand the server-side caching but not caching something that is no longer there.

I need more help please.

Thank you !

Hi Mimi,

The En Construction red image is not on the updated page; I even erased it from the folder Page 2 in Creations Mimi.
I'm not so sure where you are seeing this. Please could you provide me with a screenshot?

Thank you,

Hello Dead-i

Did you use the url to my site: http://creationsmimi.x10.mx/Creations_Mimi/Home/home.html and read the instructions on how to get to page 2 on my yesterday's message 9:47PM ?

It's right Under the header on Page 2 (it says page 2 on the page right underneath the header and then the EN CONSTRUCTION red .png file)

All other pages on the site are ok. I've even added 2 pages since my very first message and they work fine.

Now, I must tell you that I cannot update any page because I just upgraded to a premium account on X10. However, I can still use above url for 24 hours.

Never seen such complicated matter.

Thank you !

Mimi

Hello again !

My problem has been solved by x10hosting ticket .
It was my browser's cache that gave me my old page.
I emptied the cache and now I can see the right page.
