Upload protocol

Hi All,
I have been using X10 hosting for my website for several years and been very happy with it.
My question is , Is it only FTP that X10 support or are there other formats and if so , What are they ?
My reason for asking is I am in the process of getting my Raspberry Pi to upload the data to the web server and I am looking into my options regarding the upload software for the Pi.

You can use explicit FTP over TLS, but it's mostly restricted to FTP and "local" MySQL (phpMyAdmin, etc.). No shell access.
