I uploaded a jpg image using the upload button on the control panel, which is less than 10kb in size. However, it appears as a text / x-gene.ric file and I was expecting an image / x-generic file.

Is there an error on this file type? or can it be changed to image / x-generic.

If the file is correct, please provide a sample html code line, so that the picture appears on the webpage using text / x-generic.

Thanks

Are the images stored on your computer with extension: JPG (capitals)?
If so, try renaming then so the extension is lower case and re-upload.
Seems to be a 'feature' in FileManager that JPG is listed as text/x-generic and jpg as img/x-generic.

Added...

IE7 seems to display the image properly with the normal <img /> tag, even when the FileManager lists it as text/x-generic . At least in my test case.

As a matter of facts, when you are working with different operating systems (windows/linux), you should avoid using capitals as these are handled differently in each.

I thought I had previously renamed the existing files from JPG to jpg. I have now renamed the existing text / x-generic files as jpg and uploaded new image files as jpg and they work fine.

Thanks Guys
