Uploaded .jpgs being compressed?

I've been uploading my .jpgs using the cPanel and just noticed that the files seem to be becoming compressed? After uploading, I checked the file size in the File Manager to see that it was slightly lower (184k file was noted as 103k). So I downloaded the file off my site onto my hard drive to check the size, and it was indeed 103k. I double-checked the original file that I had uploaded, and it was 184k.

What would make the file shrink? Am I doing something wrong? :dunno:

if you ftp the file it should remain the same - we dont do anything to alter file sizes.. unless it got uploaded/downloaded as ascii not binary, in which case it may truncate itself.
