URL file-access

A certain page of my website relies on a script that shows whether or not a page from another website is online by using the get_headers() function. It used to work fine, but now I get this error:
Warning: get_headers() [function.get-headers]: URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in ***

Is there a way to re-enable access to external pages?

Apparently some configuration settings have been changed.

I have asked Staff about a clarification.

In the mean time, you could try using the cURL library which seems to be functioning.
