When I put this addy in the browser or the direct address of one of the pages I loaded.
http://pisces.x10hosting.com/home/pisces/public_html/index.htm
I get the page you requested is not available

That brings me to the welcome to your new web hosting web page, I should be able to just go straight to index.html or any htm/html files I place in the public_html directory shouldn't I?

You should remove the existing index.html in public_html and replace it with your own.
