I have a complaint about a policy here at x10...i couldn't find anywhere else to post this so it's going here. If this is the wrong forum, then please could a mod move it to the correct place.
I've just had my account suspended because of 'incorrect ad placement'. I posted a thread asking why i was suspended, and I was told that i had put my corporate ad in the footer of my forum, not in the header. I had no idea that the ad had to go in a specific place...i thought it just had to be displayed on every page. It turns out that the only place it says that the ad has to go in the header is deep in the TOS, and even the rule there is incorrect - the TOS say all ads have to go at the top, but i've been told that only the corporate ad has to be at the top of the page...the advanced one can go wherever.
So, after finding out the reason why i was suspended, I posted a suggested improvement to the ad-codes page in the suggestion/feedback forum and apologised for the mistake. I didn't intentionally put the ad in the wrong place, it just doesn't clearly specify where it has to go, so i assumed the footer would be fine. I did NOT forget to put up the required adverts, nor did i deliberately try and hide it...i put the in the wrong place BY ACCIDENT. I would be delighted to fix the problem, and it would take about 30 seconds to do so, but i can't because apparently I have to wait 4 days before i can have my account back as a punishment for putting the ad in the wrong place.
x10 is generally an excellent host, and i have no complaints over any of the service offered here...I am happy to display an ad (even though it is very irritating...) in exchange for the excellent service. However, my complaint is with the suspension policies which seem to have been designed to punish people harshly wherever possible. I know you have to get in as much revenue as possible to maintain this as a free service, but how does banninng me, and others like me, for 4 days just for putting my ad in the wrong place achieve this? Surely you are just throwing away 4 days worth of page views? OK, if i had failed to put an ad on my site at all then maybe a ban would be fair, but for putting it at the bottim instead of the top? That seems so over the top that it's almost laughable...
Sorry for having such a rant there, I'm just very angry and dissapointed at my suspension...and i'm sure i'm not alone.
