1- YES malicious code can be used to install to your OS without you clicking 'I am an idiot please do me over'.

2- Going to facebook implies you deserve 'doing over' considering why it was created and who uses it to data-mine.

3- For some people on Planet Earth creating lists of pretend friends, web-marketing desperado's and lonely hose-wives while submitting nothing useful to real people whilst being the data-mining / profiler guru's wet dream of a scam is still considered stupid, for everyone else there is facebook

4- I did not learn the above on facebook because I have a life!

5- since you are still reading this I thought I should throw something else in, but you followed the title of this thread so are likely prepared to have your time wasted, your life consumed by endless trivia anecdotal pieces of nonsense and somehow you will be amused by my obvious sarcasm, neglecting to consider the ironic method of delivering info that would be useful to a person with a brain. Anyway, sorry to drag you away from idiocy, here is your reward. youtube.com.

6- I was right about you... If I got paid the same that facebook does I would have made 6 somethings out of you for nothing and judging by the grin on your face, you'd be satisfied.

7- I am going to stop at 6. I could go to 7, but would that not be wrong?

8- click here for more info 'here'

9- that was not a link, you just learned something, keep it up.

11- If you are wondering what happened to 10, I underestimated you. No harm intended, PEACE!

I strongly disagree. With a secure browser and OS that won't happen. If you're using Windows with an Admin account and IE6 anything can happen. (There is a reason for making it easy to work as non-root in *Nix systems...)

If you are half intelligent you don't put any sensitive data in, or even better put fake data in. The most data mining is done through external applications, so not using any is the safest bet -- just don't give them access.

Well, I somehow have met everyone I am friends with on Facebook... And tend to see most in real life. It's particularly useful if you want to have contact with people abroad who you might happen to know (this is a globalised world nowadays, so international contacts are not uncommon).

4- I did not learn the above on facebook because I have a life!
Facebook isn't an information site, so it's quite obvious to state that you didn't learn that from facebook. And please explain the link between facebook and life?

Sometimes nonsense just has to be proven as nonsense, and the best way to do that is to try understand the whole of the nonsense before disassembling it as I'm now doing.
6- I was right about you... If I got paid the same that facebook does I would have made 6 somethings out of you for nothing and judging by the grin on your face, you'd be satisfied.
Try make your own version of facebook then, see what it's like. Good luck setting up the servers (assuming you even know how to set up a server securely, but point 1 suggest otherwise.) Then good luck programming the whole software. Good luck in attracting users...

I don't think this mindlessness needs commenting on, apart from a comment on how mindless it is.

BTW, I do partly agree with you in that some people are FB obsessed. That isn't the same as just using FB though.
