If you post about the server being down from this point onward you will be warned.

By saying this point onward i mean until we get the new server set up

You should put like a server status/announcements bulletin on the fourms homepage or on every page for that matter. Maybe people will actually read it and know what is going on. Not complaining just suggesting something. Please don't warn me ;)

I have no need to complain, as I read tbe announcements in the forum, also if I find my site is down, other than if it is suspended, I go looking for a topic in the News and Announcements to explain why, saves me getting warned and annoying people by posting!

Then you're one of the users who knows the right thing to do, and I applaud you.

There's just too many who post first and look later, especially when the server's doing what it's doing (migrating). It results in pages upon pages of "http down!", "my site doesn't load", "THIS HOST SUCKS", etc.

Personally I'd rather just lock the free hosting forum and have the "new topic" button redirect to a page that says in size 72 font "THE SERVER IS BEING MOVED. WE ARE AWARE THAT HTTP AND MOST ACCOUNTS ARE DOWN. THANK YOU."

Then again, I'm an extremist (obviously :happysad:). Which is why I'm not a mod/admin.

Edit: Minor thought that isn't all that extreme - make the free hosting's new topic button redirect to http://forums.x10hosting.com/showthread.php?t=19038 :)

So what your saying is to replase the pages with "THE SERVER IS BEING MOVED. WE ARE AWARE THAT HTTP AND MOST ACCOUNTS ARE DOWN. THANK YOU." instaed of the "Page Canot Be Found" sry for my angerness but

IF HTTPD is DOWN..NO PAGES CAN BE SERVED..OR WE WOULD HAVE OUR ACCOUNTS

No no no, the "new topic" button in the Free Hosting forum.

So instead of getting the form for a new topic, you get a page that tells you httpd is down (maybe it'd still let you post, but you can't say you didn't see the notice if it's in 72pt font).

Edit: And I know httpd is down, but the forums are working, and the page would end up being part of the forums. So it'd still be able to be served. Not really worth the hassle though.

To do that would be a lot of work on Corey/Bryon/Richard's part...so just an annoucment would be good.

anyway, corey said it's our own responsibility to check up on what's happening. a number of members register to get hosted, forget about x10, then complain when it goes down. i'm not saying everyone, a i'm sure there are some.

just take note of what's happening and look at the announcements once in a while, saving yourself wasted effort complaining about something everyone knows about. not addressed at anyone in particular, but yea... ^^
