web server says file empty

have cleared cache, cookies etc but still am unable to edit site because the x10 hosting web server says the documents in the folder are not available etc. this has been for two days now... being computer illiterate i need a patient response who can talk me through what to do in lay people's language. thankyou

Are you using ftp or cPanel/FileManager or some other program?

I can see you front page when I go to your site.

yes the site up. it's in trying to edit it that i have problems. how can i find out the answer to your questions. this is what i mean about me not having a clue. all i know is that usually on my destk top i have the words " x10 hosing web server' when i click on that a file opens( should i give you the http...details of it?) and usually i can go from there, but instead it's saying there are 0 objects in it...
