Webcam recording?

Ehhh... why is this so hard? I've been googling for weeks now with no results. I need a program that records the webcam, but also has sound. It seems I've found screen recorders, webcam recorders with no sound, some internet video stream rippers and even one program that lets me record with sound, but I have to burn the project to a dvd. If I wanted that video on file somewhere, I'd need to rip my own dvd...


There has to be a simple and FREE program that can record a webcam and record sound as well. I don't want to have to buy a camcorder and then upload to my laptop to get some digital recordings.


Surely someone here has found what I'm looking for.

not the easiest solution and probably not the best, but perhaps a software to record sound and a software to record video then one to multiplex the sound and video?

umm... well for my needs that won't really help me. I was looking to record some live stuff, like me playing songs and such. So recording the sound and video seperately doesn't really work for me.

i didnt think so.. unless it would be possible to record them separatly but simultaneously. just a suggestion but as i said prolly not the best idea

Ok, WinAVI Video Capture is the solution here. Just google that if anyone needs it.

It indeed records video and audo at the same time. How convenient. Sadly, these default laptop mics are not quite up to par for any decent recording. But a simple mic for maybe $10-$20 from best buy should finish the whole project.

The program is rather nice though. Really simple, I like simple.
