when I go to my site I receive this message:

Forbidden

You don\'t have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I have no idea how to fix it.

thank you

Hello,

Please post the contents of the htaccess file you have in the public_html directory. If using cPanel file manager you'll need to enable the viewing of dotfiles. Also, check that folders below public_html have their permissions set to 755 and files to 644.

Thanks.

I have no idea what this all means - is it possible to reset my directories? I went into the cPanel and check the permission and they seem good. I don't know how to give access to dotfiles I read another forum and it said something about as soon as you click on the cpanel a window should pop open - for me nothing pops open. The public-html folder is empty...

so another words I have no idea what I am doing and how I can fix the problem...

I hope you can help.

I read another forum and it said something about as soon as you click on the cpanel a window should pop open - for me nothing pops open
In cpanel at the bottom click the "Reset All Interface Settings"
Then you will get the cpanel to the starting stage where you will see such a popup

Hello,

Please take 2 screenshots of the cPanel file manager. One at the root directory, and one in public_html, ensuring file/folder names and permissions are visible. You can upload them as attachments into your reply.

Thanks.

Hello,

It probably wouldn't be any easier.
The permissions on the public_html directory should be 750.
What about the screenshot from inside public_html? The permissions are listed in the column to the far right. There's no need to open that box.

Thanks.

the html_public folder is empty - there are no files but when I do place files inside the folder automatically get a 755 and the files get 644 is that correct or do I need to change them?

That is correct. Any files to go onto your website need to go into public_html. Try putting an index in there and see if it works.

Thanks.

It may be easier for us to terminate your account and you can sign up again to reset it. Would you mind doing that? I'll put an immediate termination through. Just copy and paste the form below into a new reply and put your cPanel username and the X where indicated.

Account Deletion Request - Please delete my free hosting account.
cPanel username:
( ) Inserting an X inside the parentheses signifies that I have made all necessary backups of my free hosting account and will not hold x10Hosting responsible for any data I am unable to recover after my free hosting account is deleted. The X also serves as my digital signature verifying that I have proper authorization to request account deletion of the account specified.

Thanks.

Hello,

You should be able to sign up again now. Please ensure that you're logged into your account panel when signing up again so that the account is added to this forum account. The easiest way to ensure this is by logging in at (https://x10hosting.com/control/login.php) then click "Hosting" in the header bar, and somewhere in the paragraph that comes up will be a link to create a new hosting account. It will take you back to the x10 homepage, just choose a cPanel username and go through the process.

Thanks.
