Website takes forever to load

Hey I run a blog that is very popular with my friends and I have 2 issues

1. It takes forever to load
2. At points it goes down

I understand we are getting free hosting but the website shouldn't go down every 10 mins. I am so close to going back to my old host.

Your front page makes 215 separate requests for images, css, etc. A good percentage of them aren't even hosted on x10. Many are Javascript files that have to be downloaded and then run before other parts of the page can load.

I would imagine that you have plugins that query Twitter, etc, too. So the initial page would be delayed in being sent anyway.

Not sure how fast your page would load from a paid server.

Many thousands of others aren't having these problems so it's safe to assume it's something in your set up/content. Try http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/ to troubleshoot what the issue is.
