what are some good forums?

I wanted to know if there were any good forums other than SMF and PHPBB2

phpbb3, Vanilla, bbPress, phorum (flat file?)

I'm making one, but it's still in the development stage, so mentioning it here doesn't really do much for either of us.

For paid solutions there is : vbullitien, probably the ultimate forum software.
Many CMS'es like drupal also bundle in inbuilt forums. They are not the best but, they get the job done.

I personally think best paid Forum Software is IPB (Invistion Power Board)

I personally like invisionfree, which will be upgraded (I assume) in the near future to zetaboards.

Based on the other responses, it sounds like you can't go wrong with any provider.

vBulletin seems nice, our/x10hosting's forum is nice.. other than this I think phpBB2 is as swell + phpBB has released version 3 some long time ago (currently on RC5). I bet version 3 is way much better than its predecessor.
