Scenario: You should just start to do some work with your site and find out it is down and now you haven't anything to do. What do you do when you wait for your site to come online again?

I start: Looking throught the forums like crazy and look if there is some interesting topics to read until my site is up.

Back when I first joined X10, the site used to go down quite frequently. Nowadays, it doesn't happen as much... come to think of it, even though I haven't been in the forums for ages due to 2nd year college work being so overwhelming (surprised my account wasn't suspended yet!)

Usually, I'd spend time in forums (I've been inactive in many of them recently) or blogs (e.g.: The Consumerist is quite an interesting read... Money Blog Network, everything you'll need to know about personal finances, you'll learn it there, etc.)

I usually post on the x10 forums all day. I really should be getting some work done right now seeing that I only have my index page finished...

:)

I either go on here and check accounts or work on my offline copy of my site.

I go and weep in the corner of my room.

Just kidding; I do other stuff while I wait. Although every now and then I remember that my site is down, and that I have no idea when it'll be back up...

Get a better host.

Are there better ones than x10? X10 is probably the best free host that i've tried and i've tried lots of them. I think,vigge_sWe, you should think of being a paid subscriber of x10 so your site will be moved to the paid servers where downtimes are minimal or non-existent at all.

when my site goes down i have a full back up of my code on my desktop in a Gzip compression so i jus go through my code looking for ways to improve it then jus upload it to FTP when the site comes back up

Hmm.. Well, lately, x10 just gets down when its corey doing maintenance/updates/fixing stuff.

While i wait, i use the free time to check more scripts in IIS+php, create more content to fill my website and check forums, just to be sure about hte announcements

If I'm being responsible, I use the time to make more content. If not, I spend time in different forums.

Not really an issue anymore, since I switched to paid.

I blog, and that's only site I have hosted that's dedicated to me. I use Wordpress.com.

However, I do have Flickr/Facebook/etcetera.
