a) its not a poll so its misplaced
b) Fantastico lets you install different scripts if you are so lazy that you wont install scripts yourself

Do you perfer fantastico or installing scripts yourself?
I personaly perfer installing scripts myself.

Well, fantastico is usually for people who have slow internet speed, if they want to install forum like vBulletin or phpBB, they need alot of time to upload. Therefore, fantastico was created for people who have slow internet speed or who is lazy and don't have time to install the scripts needed.
But the main point is,
1) Installing yourself has a higher possibility you may encounter problems, but it also notify u in the future if the problems occur.
2) Using the manual method, that is uploading the forum to the server, you may have some acknowledgement of how to do things, like installing scripts, forum, mods / hacks.
Using fantastico is more safer, but it doesn't update to the latest version. (Take note)
And using fantastico isn't that much of a troublesome needed.

Fantastico is an automated script-installer utility for those who have little or no knowledge of MySQL, PHP, and the like.
I myself find that Fantastico lacks a lot of certain features, as I usually modify the original scripting (case and point: I hard coded several hundred more lines to Wordpress to more adequatly suit me).
Whatever the case is, however, it is good for those looking for all the functionality of professional PHP scripting, that are either too lazy or not knowledgable enough to install by themselves.
Edit: Didn't see the poll--Silly me. I prefer, of course, to install the scripts myself.
