The best font is the font the user has their browser set to use.

I would never recommend attempting to override any settings your visitors have set.

However, for large titles and major headings you should us a sans serif font. For body text you should use an easier to read serif font.

I'd go for a plain sans serif font or Times Roman, but definitely not anything curlicued or fancy.

unless you are trying to get a certain type of look..for i.e a wedding website..you would want cursive....

but for a regular website..just don't edit the user's settings

you should read an article on typography if you need to chose

The best font for your website depends on the context, of course.

In general however, if your page is designed for online viewing, commonly used sans serif font is strongly recommended. Examples include Arial/Helvetica/Verdana, etc.

If your page is designed for print viewing, serif fonts are recommended. Examples include Times New Roman, etc.

I think generally sans serif fonts render better on lower resolution screens, and it not a coincidence that most big sits use it, but as other people have said, don't override the user fonts too much.

I suppose the key question is: will most people be printing off this page? Most of the time the answer is probably no, so sans serif is probably the best bet. Its not like the user can't override the site if they so choose.

any monospacced font, 12 point or larger.

i like function over form.

unlike the "Genious" woman who makes the PP slides for the tvs in the school, using, in best conditions, impossible to read fonts and colors.
