I am looking for a gamepad to use for pc games. I googled for reviews and most people either like the http://www.nyko.com/AirFlo/home.html, xbox 360 pads (they say it is compatible with windows xp computers, and a ps2 controller + adapter.

Interested to know what you use, what you like and your ideal gamepad.

PS2 gamepad, I've only managed to cause one to stop working thus far. They're pretty dang tough, whereas the only other gamepad I have that is still alive is an old 4 button dpad gamepad that uses a serial port instead of a USB. Everything else that I spent $30-$50 on basically fell apart.

I'm guessing for most intents and purposes though ANY console gamepad would do fine as long as it's the originals - third party ones tend to fall apart from what I've seen. Guess it's a matter of preference on the controller.

Keyboard and mouse! Gamepads are reserved for consoles only IMO. However, if I could get a keyboard and mouse to work on consoles..

I don't use a game pad on my gaming computer. Just a keyboard with some specialized functions and a laser mouse with some great DPI.

Mouse = instantaneous tracking. Gamepad joysticks = not.

A good mouse with a keyboard is sooo much better than a gamepad, in my opinion. Someone mentioned racing games - I actually use joysticks for those. The only things I don't use my keyboard/mouse for is racing games and flight sims (Tie Fighter 95... you know it).

In all truth though, it's probably because I spend a hell of a lot more time using a mouse than a gamepad, so I'm just better at it -- I bet if I used a gamepad for the next 3 years I could become pretty "sicknasty" with it.

My main joypad is a Saitek P990 Dual Anologue, its good for those FPS games and also some racing, driving games, how ever i do have a 3 PS2 pads, for Fifa 2008 when playing with friends, 2 on each side lol, good fun.

Hopefully by september, my 16th birthday, i'll save up enought to go out and splash out some cash on a Logitech G25 900º Racing Wheel with 6 speed shifter and full cluch, brake and accelerator, for those games like live for speed, rFactor and Test drive unlimited which can make use of the shifter and cluch padals.
