Hi all,
I think the antivirus should be one that uses the low resources as possible.

* Your poll left off the best one! Avira AntiVir Antivirus (Free version available.)

* Here's a browser hijacker google redirect "goingonearth" that I had to remove off a family members pc.
I had to find it and remove it myself, cause they use avast.
Notice the other useless antiviruses didn't detect it. Is yours on the list. LOL!

Here is the virustotal results: At the time, Avira was the only anti-virus that detected it.
SUPERAntiSpyware malware remover also detected it. but its not an anti virus though.

Result: 2/ 43 (4.7%) from virustotal.

I test my anti-viruses by actually downloading trojans and viruses on purpose.
I don't just take their word for it.

Infected Files was sent to virustotal, so other anti viruses should have that BY NOW.
Also was sent to malwarebytes, spybot search and destroy, and adaware.
Which at the time they did not detect it either.
So nod32, avast, and the rest are not as great as you may think.

All are bad. If you have antivirus your system will work lower, u cant write paches for games, u cant develop some apps and etc. If u are using windows, run antivirus once in month and check for viruses, i think its best way.

Okay, this is according to my experience so far:

Norton: Powerful protection but very process restrictive and a memory hog.
McAfee: Less powerful protetion but not as taxing on memory while being more compatible.
Avira: May not provide the best protection, but is simple and light.
Avast: Massive memory eater, lockdown security. This is curfew on the computer.
AVG: Similar to Avira in security, but not as PC friendly.

That just about sums up the ones I've used. Haven't used the rest, but if I do, I'll let you know how they fare.

For me it whould be Panda Cloud Antivirus.
This is the only security product i am running on my system.

It needs no definition updates as everything is done in the cloud wich also makes it perfect for older systems due to the low resource usage.

Best of all its free edition is good enough so you dont need to pay anything if you use this in combination with windows firewall and a router wich is not port forwarded.

I don't see Avira anywhere. Is there any reason for it?
Have been using avira for years now, never had any issue. Best part is, it is light, so doesn't affect the speed of the machine.
