Why didn't they contact us and tell us what was happening? It's awful business behavior to do something like this without contacting us. As is clear on these forums, people are angry, and all of this could have been avoided if they sent a simple email to us.

And what, exactly, are they doing with the servers? I'm just wondering.

Hi amvarchitecture,

before complaining about the "awful business behavior" for the free service you are being offered, I would suggest you'd get informed. These changes were announced in a thread in the News & Announcements section called http://forums.x10hosting.com/news-announcements/110021-latest-news.html. As well, a website completely oriented on status updates was set up at http://status.x10hosting.com/. Finally, for the angry people, most of the problems are caused by the migration. Most of these problems will solve themselves once the migration is complete, so no action needs to be taken.

I do understand that the hosting itself is free, and I DO love X10hosting. I recommend them to anyone looking for a host.

I am just frustrated that they didn't notify us that they were going to do this. A simple email would have been nice. I'm sure that 95% of their "customers" whether free or paying don't check these forums.

All customers are required to check these forums to keep their accounts active. They should be checking the announcements section because they should be interested in seeing what's going on, not lazily waiting for an email. They might as well do something while they're here logging in at least once a month, right?

By no means am I trying to add fuel to the all-ready-burning fire, but I have to agree with amvarchitecture. A simple email to all (free and paid) members advising us about a migration or upgrade would have been much appreciated. x10hosting didn't have to elaborate, it could've been a simple email advising us to check the forums out for a server update. It could've also help reduce the amount of support tickets being created by those members whom failed to check out the News & Announcements section.

Most of us, including myself, are using the x10hosting free service. But most members, such as myself, are on here testing and rating the service before we actually commit to an upgrade and pay for premium services.

Communication is very important in a web hosting business and I think thats what amvarchitecture and I are relating to.

Think of it from this perspective...If you honestly had trouble with a free service that lacked your expectations, would you honestly become a paying member? You'd probably answer no to that and if you didn't -- there's something wrong with you. ;-)

But in any case, I'm just voice my two cents -- for what its worth.

Quote from the News & Announcements section you mention:
Overall there really shouldn't be any downtime.
Which leaves this as the worst to be expected:
You will most likely see things appearing and disappearing in your cPanel and we may have to restart the servers a few times.
And I think it's agreed the status page was less than informative.

Nothing less than Shameful.

(Not even to mention they lost my entire data to boot.)
