Books, they are more reliable than the internet.

Books - usually more accurate, easier to cite as a source as I usually loose internet sites I go to, and are still useable without power (lots of brownouts down here  )

i would go with books easier and if your internet dies or the website you get info from shutdown/restart/for good then you wouldn't have the info any more

Both, there's something both good and bad about using either one. Books, more reliable, takes more time though. Net, easier to find information, but you can't always be sure you have collected the right information.

I usually use both. The internet more convenient but some of the information might not be creditable/accurate enough for school. Books on the other hand, some are harder to find than others, but most of the time they are from credible sources.

I have used both. However, most of my professors either limited the number of internet references (unless peer-reviewed journals) or disallowed them completely. Some even wanted the entire internet article to accompany the paper. But the internet is great at finding quick facts or avenues to take in getting information from the book source. I would say try to use the internet first to get some information they try to back up any sketchy information with (tangible) books.

lol I'm an operating system developer, the net is helpful, but for the real meat and potatoes kind of info, books are the way to go. Andrew Tenenbaum is a lifesaver.

With the uprising of Wikipedia and it's high article standards, I'd say that before too long it will be just as notable as any printed encyclopedia. Their goal it to bring together the entire sum of all human knowledge and share it freely in all languages. It's quite possibly one of the greatest milestones in the advancement of modern day man. Even if it fails to meet it's goal the attempt is notable and worthy of a Nobel peace prize or six. :p
