What's the difference between an Intel Pentium and Intel Celron processor?

Celerons are cheaper and lower quality. They have lower front side bus frequencies and a smaller cache.

This makes then perform more poorly (than a Pentium) at a similar clock frequency.

Also, Celeron D processors are single core, while Pentium D processors are dual core.

There are more types than just Intel Celeron(R) and Pentium(R). Celeron(R) isn't as fast and powerful as Pentium(R).

Well, actualy lets say I have Intel Celeron(R) CPU 2.40GHz (Which I do have) and Intel Pentium(R) CPU 2.40GHz. The Pentium would be much better and faster than Celeron at the same speed.

Usually, between a Celeron and Pentium both running at (say) 2GHz, the Pentium would be faster.

Thanks for the info I was wondering the same thing as CoolFinalFan was about the diffrence between the two chip types.
