I have been advised to make a simple addition to my .htaccess file. I have managed to use the Legacy File Manager to allow hidden files to be seen. That works OK and I can see all the normally hidden files.
But I find I have no .htaccess file. So I have a couple of questions:
1. Do I need to create it and, if so, where does it go?
2. Is it possible that I deleted it somehow and, if so, how could I replace it?

Hi interce5,

A .htaccess file is an optional file that is used to change certain configuration values for your website. You would need to create the .htaccess file yourself, in public_html or whichever directory you wish for it to take effect, and then save your configuration within. :)

Thank you,

By default .htaccess is hidden. You'll need to show hidden files

Then you can edit, delete. If you install scripts like Wordpress or Phpbb. Most likely the .htaccess file will be created with some configuration. Make sure you don't replace or delete those code.
