where is root

i would like to put files into the root directory but i cannot find it

If you are talking about the Document Root, where your web accessible site files start, then it is:

/home/YOURcPanelUsername/public_html

no i mean the root of EVERYTHING the absolute ROOT (as in / )

The system is set up so that the Document Root for a user is:

/home/cPanelUsername/public_html

As a user, you also have access to its parent directory

/home/cPanelUsername

in your case /home/mendyb

You do not have access to /home or to / . Period.
