wtf?

He said windows

L - Linux
A - Apache
M - Mysql
P - Php

Unless he runs a vmware box, how would he get the L right?

Personally I'd recommend http://www.devside.net/ (Web develepoer AMP Suite). Its got all the functions you'd need in it, along with a few more :)

WAMP is ok, but setting it all up yourself is also cool.

Yeah I like to install the componets manually. You get to learn alot more that way...

I'm using XAMP, because manually creating my own WAMP setup is worthless. I just need a way to test out my PHP script; I don't need of the trimmings.

Setting it up yourself may be cool, but most of this would rather not deal with the hassle.

XAMPP is the best one in my opinion. One good thing about it is that there is an easy to use web interface to configure it, and also stuff like phpmyadmin is included as default (don't think it is in WAMP).

I can set up Apache / PHP/ MySQL / php.ini / phpMyAdmin in about 10 minutes on windows, do it a few times and it'll come naturally to you.
