someone posted a link that pointed to a shiny page with some stuff about dynamic links and search engines visituing them. fyi - google has no problem going to the pages as long as they are linked but they penalize such pages - as they are not static and might not exist when searched for a week/ 2 weeks later - so they prefer static links - in the hope that they point to more static content. so its better to have mysite.xyz/todaysNews.html vs. mysite.xyz/news.html?when=today

of course nothing is stopping you from having both
mysite.xyz/todaysNews.html and mysite.xyz/news.html?when=today
with mysite.xyz/todaysNews.html just an include to the real page but dont make it a redirect
