You have to pay for a .com/.net etc. but you can get a .co.cc for free. I dont remember the site though

You can looin to www.x10hosting.com/account and you can change your domain there you can select from .x10hosting , .exofire and lots more.

We just gave you a bunch of websites that give you free domains.

if you want a .com/.net/.org/etc you just need to suck it up and buy one since not many places are gona give one away. Im suprised x10 gives away domains inthe contests.

if your lucky you can find a site thats selling them at $5 or something.

co.cc will works best.they support dns setting.but co.nr dosen't.
me uses co.cc www.subeeshr.co.cc

Yes, co.cc works perfectly like a real domain, if not already a real domain.

You will never, ever, EVER, get a free .com/.net/.org domain without paying for it in some way, shape or form.
I would try freedomain.co.nr as a starter. I myself use it, and haven't had any problems. And it's nicer than having autoitking.x10hosting.com

It says that it gives free .com domains but I haven't tried it yet. It will do flood your website with ads. So inquire everything about it before signing-up. It must also be requiring fixed number of visitors visiting your site as well.

just go with co.cc... its the best free name i've ever seen

in addition you get most of the features that you get in paid domain like .com & .net here for FREE like the dns control..

Here are a list of free domains, in no particular order from what I know:

.co.cc
.co.nr
.tk - DotTK
.ath.cx - DynDNS
http://www.domain-4free.com/ - Is good for a free .com domain, but it's a unbelievable amount of ads that you have to put, and their customer service response is par to horrible.

And of course there's uni.cc, which also provides DNS configuring, making it seem like a real domain. Only requirement is 10 hits every 3 months, which is blindingly easy.
