It's not funny, but it's still funny at the same time.
If you look in-depth and try to avoid the gradual "favoritism" that time brings on (e.g: generally, even those who were justly villified in their own time period tend to be viewed more favorably as time goes on). Our very own "heroes" often have a less than desirable traits and/or deeds to their name.
But at the same time, those decrying long after the subject's death are no saints themselves.
Pity.
