I'd say Mac. Macs can run any OS without violating EULAs anyways (OS-X, Linux, Windows)..

I find using Windows a real chore...

I use OSX most of the time but virtualise Windows XP and Arch Linux. My preference is a UNIX based system, but my needs and mileage are different to other peoples' which is why I think all these X vs Y topics are petty and really quite pointless...

They all have relative strengths and weaknesses

Windows is more over-all arround. Depends on which OS your talking about however..
- Vista = business, high class gaming once SP1/2 will come out.
- XP = home, media, entertainment ect
- ME = EHH! no

Mac is more media and music i think, id use Mac to make movies and such. I dont really reccoemend it for gaming.

Linux is more server-based and free. Nice :)

I prefer Windows XPhome or Windows XPpro over all other OS's :)

Mac cost a lot, whereas on for windows is much cheeper, So i prefer Windows.
Have you seen how much Windows Vista costs?!?

I use Windows XP, but now I am thinking of switching, I tried Puppy Linux inside QEMU, but that kind of defeated the purpose, I can't back-up my PC and re-partition it (if only re-partitioning was 100% safe), I am considering Mac OS X Leopard (I used to be anti-Mac and pro-Windows) or a new hard drive with FreeBSD (go FreeBSD!).

Nowadays I use Windows XP, I've tried Linux but it's ugly and hard to use. I'm thinking to buy a Mac, but i've a new laptop (1 year) and i've no money to buy a mac...

Linux is not ugly or hard to use... have you looked at it lately? You can changed your window manager and themes easily if you don't like the defautl... Look at the ubuntu distro... easiest ever to install, easier to use than windows, easier to install software than windows ...

No offense, but I don't care how pretty it looks, how user-friendly it is (if it's complicated, I WILL figure it out), or how 'easy' it is. I don't spend the majority of my time browsing the web, using PhotoShop, or typing essays. I'm a PC gamer, a game/mod developer/programmer, and an ethical hacker (even though I could do that with a Palm Pilot). Windows fits all of those, Linux fits some of those, Mac hardly meets my requirements.

If that is your opinion thats fine, but I think the design and the userfriendlyness + the stabilty + lots of more things make it a better system for 'me'. Its not because you dont need design, and you want gaming that the system is not that good. Everybody wants something different.

Its only as difficult to use as the amount of time you put into it. Linux was designed by 'geeks' for 'geeks'. I'm not saying that's good or bad, that's how it is. Besides, Linux has so many distributions (at least 352, at last count), there is bound to be at least one you like.

Besides, people need to use Operating Systems other than their preferred one. This way someone might actually find that they like Linux or Mac better than Windows or something else entirely.
