Hello everyone. It would seem that here I am looking for a Windows Media Player alternative.

You see, my problem is that my computer is shared, and even though we have 3 user logins, everyone stays on mine. This originated from me being logged in the move and people just decided it was too much work to log out and use their login, thus settings and such were under my name, and then after a certain point there were too many things already under my name, so they would be missing settings and favorites, etc that they had under my user name. But that is another story.

So I like WMP, but my sister also uses it and puts lots of music in my library that I don't like((c)Rap and R&B:bash:). So if I ever want to put WMP in my taskbar, turn on shuffle and just back and work with a wonderous soundtrack that fills my head, I have a problem.

I don't want a playlist because I would rather not have to manage anything. I would like to tell my media player that all my music is here, and then let it do all that for me while I listen and such. I would remove all her songs(and folders), but she will add them back, and plus I'm a nice brother that won't simply delete her music or musical library.

So is there a good WMP alternative out there that preferably has an Album Art Library(like WMP or iTunes). For some reason that is very important to me. So yes, Winamp should not be a suggestion here, and while iTunes does have this, I just don't like iTunes that much(or Apple for that matter).

If you're just looking for a music player, then this player is really good. It's called Media Monkey. It's not only a player but it'll take .ogg audio and convert it to mp3.

Ooooh, I was this close to downloading Media Mokney ->| |<-
But then I read that the free version doesn't have the file moniter, which automatically updates your library.

I really am looking to get this done soon, and I honestly haven't found much through my googling. I would try foobar, but it seems there is a lack of skin support, and I'm not too keen on that layout and appearance.

So, any more suggestions? Is there any way for me to have my Media Monkey library updated for me? A plugin perhaps? I really enjoy that feature with WMP, Winamp and iTunes. Not having to worry about adding new songs. I sync things manually(just prefer it), and so when I add new songs to my computer(off my mp3 player mainly), I simply copy and paste them into my music folder. So I would like for my media player to update my music library for me.

Try VLC Media player. It's complete with all the codecs and I've never known it not playing somefile except for mov. You might not like the look of it, pretty simple but powerful one and doesn't use up much of resources.

Ehh... sorry Ryoko126, but I think QCD is really like Winamp. In fact, I think I liked Winamp better. I guess QCD isn't a bad player, but one thing I really hate is the 'library'(which is a playlist). I guess really the thing I love about WMP and even iTunes is the way the library is set up. I have having a pure text music library. In WMP and iTunes your library is broken up with album art and such so you are scrolling a list of song names and such.

Ehh... I'm so picky. I guess really I just want all the eye candy mixed with a great library system(preferably with the list broken up by artist or genre, etc., and album art). I guess there isn't one for me. I live WMP and all, just hate people interfering with my library, so I wanted a new media player just for me. Ah, oh well.

Well I updated WMP and it just didn't suit me at all. But if I didn't update it, they'd drive me crazy about updating everytime I used it.

If you are looking for a good media player, why not try iTunes.
