wordpress installation

I've tried installing wordpress both through fantastico and manually and it still won't work. I go to the address where the blog should be and get a 404 error. Is this an issue with the PHP? Is there a certain period of time I have to wait beforeit shows up? Any other possibilities? I'm lost.
Any help would be appreciated.

after upload you should open the installation directory in url

Yup, did that. That's when I get the 404 error.

This should actually be http://your-domain.com/directory/install, where "directory" represents where you installed your WordPress. That is, unless you installed WordPress in your public_html folder and your entire website is going to be just a blog.

That's good to hear, although when I installed my forums, they were up and ready to use immediately...

Edit: Never mind, I just realized that WordPress is a blog, not a forum.

The wordpress login page is from the wp-admin folder. U need to use the admin password during the fantastico installation.

eg. http://yourdomain/installed-dir/wp-admin

I think she meant that her actual blog wasn't working, not just the administration section Either way, she said that it's working now.
