As the title states, I have been unable to save any changes I make to wordpress pages. Whenever i press update i am routed to a 404 page and nothing saves.

I believe this to be (based on google research) due to mod_security or something to the like.

Any assistance welcome

Hi wpppoker,

I can see several cases on your account where mod_security has denied a post edit because the content you are submitting looks suspicious, and isn't something that would typically be included in a WordPress post. What data are you submitting? Are you using any plugins that could be injecting something into your post? :)

Thank you,

Hello Dead-i,

I cannot seem to find any of this suspicious content you are referring to, I am merely editing the content on a page.

Regarding the plugins, whilst troubleshooting the issue I have tried disabling all the plugins but this did not work, I tried resetting the plugins folder but this did not work.

Would it be easier to just disable mod_security? Add some Whitelisting? or can you pinpoint the injection and where to find it so i can fix it?

I just need a fix:)

while x10hosting discourage it - Premium account users have the ability to completely disable [ mod_security ] on their account via cPanel

For free-hosting accounts - x10hosting has a customized web server setup that does not allow for the same cPanel functionality to disable [ mod_security ] - x10hosting also decided it would not be a good idea to allow free-hosting users to disable it - as it is used to not only protect against inbound malicious attacks but to prevent outbound abuse also - Unfortunately free-hosting still gets abusive signups - and allowing those abusive users to disable something that helps to prevent their malicious actions would not be in x10hosting's best interest

Thanks for your contribution, If that is the case then I am ok with not disabling mod_security. However my problem still remains of not being able to edit my content and thus pretty pointless in having a site.

I have seen topics similar to mine on google which mentions a method of whitelisting certain parts without completely disabling it, perhaps this is the way to go?
