wrong redirection on 404 error

hello
i have specified a 404 error page for my websites but whenever there is a 404 error, the user is redirected to http://x10powered.com/errors/404.shtml instead.

what can i do about it?

What is the domain you applied the .htaccess file to? Also, could you post the contents of the .htaccess file you created?
